How well does saftee acid work to pickle compared to other stuff?

This is in responce to the saftee acid question. We changed to saftee acid two years ago after talking to Bruce Rittell of "Rittells" tanning supplies. We have had excellent results with this product. It is just as good as formic acid and is much safer. It also takes one half as much acid to do the same job as formic. Follow directions of 1/2 oz. acid to one pound of salt per 1 gallon of water. After soaking hides in this solution for 24 hours, remove and add the same amount of acid again. Allow hides to soak 48 more hours and remove and flesh. Return to acid for 24 more hours , drain and neutralize. We then apply ligqa tan with excellent results. I hope this helps. Barry Johnson
