Urgent Problem

Submitted by Jason on 2/16/02. ( )

I was mounting a deer earlier with a liqua-tanned cape.
the form turned out to be a little too big, my hands are bleeding
from trying to sew it and stretch it. So instead of doing
a half-ass sewing job with a gap down the back I cut it of and
put it in the freezer ten minutes ago. My question is will the
Hide glue stick the cape together in the freezer. And I left the
earliners in so the ears would not get glued shut. I did not
use that much glue but I am still worried because this never
happened to me before. The cape will be in the freeze unitil at
least next thursday. Any advice would be greatly apprectiated.

You will be fine till the new one comes in. But after you thaw out the hide the paste on the cape should be wiped off. I would washed the paste off the cape first then froze it but it should be fine till then.

try this also

Make form smaller

Why not just take the cape off of the form and use a rasp to take an inch or so off of the form to make your cape fit. It is easy to do,

i mount a ton of big life size and heads if you have a skin that just wont fit no matter how much stretching you do , there is a way to get it to fit without shaving the mannican down by taking a rag and weting the skin side with really hot water you can turn a 22 inch neck into a 24 try it it will suprise you how much you gain but the skin has to be hot good luck
