Squirrel Tail Problems

Submitted by Jeff on 2/28/02. ( jponcelet@ec.rr.com )

Doing first squirrel the tail hard shot damage about 1-2 inches from the tip of the tail. When I pulled the bone from the tail about the same amount stayed in the tip of the tail. I will be using DP on this mount. Any ideas would be appreciated.

All you need to do is pull the other section off. Mount the squirell as you would normally. Then when you push the wire through the tail you will have a section showing or coming out. Take some hide paste and brush it on the tail lightly. Now slide the other section over that part, align the tail and let dry. You may want to pin it or a quick stitch just to hold it while it dries for you.

One tip here. The tail wire you use for the mount, should be measured to the original size of the squirell's tail.
