I work in a slaughter house and often get requests to do european mounts on longhorns and other bulls that we process. I've taken training in taxidermy, but I don't know how to get those horns so smooth that they look near plastic. Do you just lightly sand the heck out of them and then buff and clear coat? THANKS..

then once they are getting smooth, start with a course grade going the length of the horn. graduate to fine grade.
Now with a flannel cotton wheel on a bench grinder with SAFTEY COVER REMOVED and PLASTIC POLISHING COMPOUD gloss them up. For the wheel and compound if you are going to do more than one. Go to www.eastwoodcompany.com Plastic compound # 13138 wheel fo fit a 1/2 inch arbor, 8" flannel wheel 13058 about $20.00 including postage.
