I am finishing my first deer mount and I'm a beginner. When removing the T-pins from my lip tuck I have dimple's from the head of the T-pins. I pushed them in to far and they pressed in to the Critter Clay I rapped around the upper lip. Is it possible to rehydrate this area and reform the clay? If so how should I go about it? The cape is commercially tanned. It has dryed for two weeks. I checked the archives and could not locate the answer. I have been able to answer every other question so far on this site. Thanks so much to everyone for all the help.

hey dan try a wet rag around the muzzle to loosen the skin may take afew hours.then pull back the skin and scrape the clay off . then just start over. should work , did the same thing on a ram. good luck and let me know..............
Todays forms dont need the clay in the lips, maybe just a very small roll for the inch of lower lips but thats ALL.
Anytime you have a dried problem the only way to fix it is to wet it back.
I would suggest that you cut a smaller lip line and use a good hide paste. I never pin the lips on mine and I have yet to have on "pull" out?

Thanks for the help everyone. I'll try wetting the lips and starting over. I'll also use less clay and cut a smaller lip slot. I was just following the instructions of the video's I purchased. Oh, I'll also cut back on the pins in the lip.
The wet towel trick worked. I didn't need to completly untuck the lips. By rehydrating the mouth I was able to work the dimples out of the clay. The mouth is pretty wet. Should this effect my hide paste and make my lips pull out? I used Salle Dimes water based paste.
Thanks again!
