What happens is that the dryer tumbles to fast for birds and in reality it's not worth it. But if you call Rienhert's they have a plan for this.
I haave been using a tumbler made from an old dryer for the last 5 yrs
Its great for all of your mammal skins, dont mount many birds, never used it a great deal in the bird dept, but mine is wired for 110 and the heater element is removed, some people like to block off the blower unit too but mine is still operational, I keep it about 1/3 full of sawdust(hardwood only please)and a 15-20 min tumble is usually all it takes.I am a preserv. user and if using preserv.
towel dry flesh side & apply preserv. it helps keep sawdust from sticking to flesh side!Feel free to e-mail me for more info if you need it!

I use an old dryer Scott. If yo look up my Web page fallslaketaxidermy.com you will see in in the shop. I took duct tape and taped over the holes. A friend converted it to 110 and disconnected the heating element. I also disconnected the blower. Works OK for me. Also, I wish Reinhert would do something to his Web site so we could access needed information rather than "calling". The internet is much cheaper.
dryers are ok to start with but once you try a larger 12rpm (or slower) tumbler you'll wonder why to heck you ever used a dryer for anything other than your clothes.
