Do I need to have a taxidermy liscense (not sure in spelling) to do any taxidermy work at all for my own mounts and the families or just to do commercial taxidermy work or do I need one at all.

Just made this call today. I also am a beginner. I asked around and was told to call my "Local Tax Office" to obtain a Small Business license. For me, I live in WV it is free for the first year if you have no employees. So look in your phonebook for you "Local Tax Office" Hope this helps,

Go to the top of this page and click links. Scroll down until you come to DNR links. Click on your state and go from there.
Check your state. Each state is different. I'm from La. and they
don't require a license, but some states do. One thing for sure, is
that if you want to mount migratory birds, you must get a Federal
Permit to do that in every state.
