Vermiculite

Submitted by Eric on 3/19/02. ( LORIANDMIKE@prodigy.net ) 64.199.192.39

I am needing to get some vermiculite (not sure on the spelling) for doing some rock work on my bases. I can't seem to figure out where to get a hold of some. Can someone point me in the right direction?
Thanks
Eric

Try a building supply store

Like Lowes or Home Depot first. If they don't have it, try to find a supply house in your area that specializes in Masonry products. Vermiclite is commonly used as insulation in Masonry walls.

Nursery or Garden Center

You can find it there or in the garden department of Walmart, Kmart etc... in season.

No More Vermiculite! Manufacturing ceased!

Vermiculite is no longer available or being manufactured. I used to get it ar garden shops and Lowes etc, but Scotts has since stopped making or carrying it because they found asbestos in the area where it is mined. It carries an asbestos level that has now been deemed hazardous, and is not longer available. You may find some old stock in a store, but all new shipments are cancelled till further investigation!
