Substitute for Vermiculite

Submitted by Eric on 3/20/02. ( LORIANDMIKE@prodigy.net ) 64.199.192.39

Since Vermiculite is no longer being made, what would be a good alternative for making rock bases. I mix the vermiculite with plaster and some powdered coloring and then paste it on burlap over wire mesh. Anyone have any good ideas for a substitute. Thanks Eric

this is also an agricultural soil aerator similor to vermiculite, but it is white in color, lightweight, and can even be used (damp) to pack inside a bass hide as a "stuffing" material.
