Just bought some Rittel's Kwik-N-Eze and wanted to try it out. There are various steps in the instructions. I have a deer hide that was salted and dried, I rehydrated it in salt brine (as Rittel's Kwik-N-Eze says too) then fleshed it, now it's back in the salt brine (as Rittel's Kwik-N-Eze says too)...was wondering if there should be a pickling stage to this? My next steps are to lightly salt and leave for a couple hours, then to use the solution to tan... any ideas out there?

Bonnie,
I use the Kwik-Eze method but after my hide is relaxed i go right to my pickling solution.I use 1lb of salt to avery gal of water and i use Bruce's saftee-acid to lower my ph to 1.0-2.0 and my salt level to 40%-45% for three days.then neutralize, rinse and then apply the Kwik-n-Eze and sweat for 5-6 hours then mount or freeze to mount later. hope this help you out but if not you should get a hold of Bruce at Rittels@ici.net
