Method of mounting a wolf

Method of mounting a wolf -
I've got a wolf that I'm mounting and I really don't want to do a dorsal cut because I don't want to screw up the hair pattern on the back (black wolf with silver streak down center of back). How hard is it to do a belly cut mount? I can see it being hard to get the pelt on the form this way - impossible, I don't know. If anyone has gone this way please let me know if there is any special tricks of the trade to accomplish this without making it too much work or I'm I doing it the most difficult way. Any suggestions or experiences would help. Thank You, Brian

Just takes a little longer

I usually make a small slit between the ears so I can work the earbutts, but it just takes you a little longer. I don't especially enjoy the dorsal cut. I'd rather cut the form and re-install the pieces as I work.

Go with Dorsal Cut

Punch holes across form each other for alignment when you later sew the skin on. It's much easier sewing a dorsal than a belly cut any day. I like to have my form all ready to mount, without having to glue it together while the skin is on.
