I RECENTLY ORDERED A COUPLE OF CAPES. WITH THE HEAT THEY THAWED OUT IN TRANSIT AND HAD A SMELLY ODOR. AFTER SALTING I BATHED ONE IN A RINSE MIXTURE OF DAWN DISH WASHING LIQUID AND LYSOL. AFTER FLESHING AND APPLYING SPRAY TAN I CAN STILL SMELL A HINT OF A FOUL ODOR. ANY SUGGESTIONS. AND WILL IT STINK AFTER IT DRYS?

And it's hard to read and comprehend in all caps. But to your problem. Capes in the condition you describe may or may not be in danger, but when you get that creepy feeling, the best bet is to stay away from the spray tans or even the topical tans. A questionable hide should be salted and put into a pickle as soon as possible. I have some harsh words about spray tans, but still, your best bet NOW is to mount the animals quickly and use an upholstery tool to taxi the hide. Try not to touch or pull the hide any more than absolutely necessary as hair slippage might be a good possibility.
