Howdy
How would i go about mounting a scorpion? I don't know what they are called. Just the little (about 1" long) ones common to north central Texas. Brown and kind of yellow color. Thanks in advance.

Hey Russ, i have mounted many of the larger emperor scaorpions and would think the process would be the same but on a much smaller scale. i usually cut open the abdomen and remove all the inside tissue and meat. i then borax it down, and make a small sculpall body, insert, shape and glue shut. Then using Rittels preserve it solution, i inject this into the claws and tail sections till full.At this point, you can position to dry. The larger specimens require dissasembling the scorpion completey from claw and tail removal to splitting the carapace. The large amount of meat in the emperors requires that all this be removed or you are in for a nasty smelling creature. Just go slow and delicately and you should be fine!

I know the little ones you're talking about. Let me know if you need anymore, I find those little bass turds in my house all the time. Last summer I woke up with one on my face. Other than the abdomen, I can't see much you could flesh. Maybe poke a few pin holes on the underside of the pinchers and soak in some sort of preservitive. Then just shellac the little turd till stiff.
Good Luck,
Jason
