The only thing I glue on fish is trout and other smooth skinned fish. Walleye, bass, northerns, crappie, perch, and the Like I do not glue. I do sew them up. On a fish you and conforming the skin to a body that it already has a memory for. So why do you have to glue it. Birds don't get glued. Mammals are a whole nother story though. Lots of glueing there......lol.
Well this is my feeling on glueing fish. I use the glue on the smooth skinned fish to get a nice smooth finish. That smooth skin picks up all the details under the skin if you don't.

Five use it, One don't,...Paste helps align the skin and secures it to the prepped form after drying,...one method or the other,... I would use it, and any of the above methods will work.

I use . . .

I use Elmers carpenter glue-on the average fish (3-4 lb bass)I use only a few tablespoons worth of the stuff. It sticks to foam and sort of smooths out any rough spots on the form as a filler .It also transitions the foam body to any mache that you'd use for fin butts. It cleans up with water and is non toxic.
