Why is a freeze dried head the "hard way"?

Skin it....flesh it and send it out for 60 bucks....
it will cost more in time replacing feathers, not to mention not having any hairs on the head, then to make it someone else's hastle
who does it for a living.............strutting turkeys, as well as any other pose, is not rocket science....it's ridiculous how easy they come together.....they just seem scary....I've witnessed a bird being mounted, ready to dry, in under 2 hours..........
and this taxidermist has won many a competition all with commercial mounts.........where the time is spent, which will detract from your profit, is replacing feathers, (if quality is a factor for you)..I've seen many mounts where the time was'nt spent replacing feathers....I'd recommend any video from Cally Morris available from WASCO

He freezedries heads. Cut the head off at the featherline, leave one or two rows of feathers on the head. Wrap it good in plastic, freeze it, then box it up and send overnight air. Call him at 850 968-6668.

I send all of my turkey heads to Noonkester's Taxidermy Supply, they are listed in the suppliers list. They charge $29.95 for freeze drying heads. As to the artifical heads I do not give my customers the choice of having an artifical head after you see the difference between an artifical and a freeze dried head you will see that there is no comparison. All you have to do is freeze the head, decide what pose you are going to mount the turkey in and be sure to tell them, then send the turkey head to them overnight express be sure to send it out during the first of the week,(before Wednesday) and they will take care of the rest. You will probably have your head back in 6 to 8 weeks ready for you to paint.
