How does Borax preserve skins such as Turkey's and other's? What is the difference between Borax sold at the local grocery store and DP sold at all the supply companies?

Borax is borax regardless of where you buy it, but DP has other things added into it such as alum, talc, moth crystals, pepper, and differing combinations or lack of them from manufacturer to manufacturer. Personally, I use DP instead of the Borax, but for absolutely no other reason than "That's just the way I've always done it."
