To those of you that I had promised additional reference photos to, I haven't forgotten you!
With all the potential threat of virus transmissions this last month, I cooled my e-mailing of e-mail attachments Big Time. There is a large number of taxidermists that I wanted to get sample photos to also. So here is what I have done in order to remedy the situation:
I had a free down-load section set up on the Whitetail Designer Systems web site, www.whitetailsystems.com. That was added just last night. Any one mounting whitetails can use this currently available photo, it shows ear butt muscle definition really well.
If you do not have print capabilities, down-load it to a floppy disk and take it to a photo department (WAL-MART,"etc.") that has a Kodak Picture Maker. You can have a 4x6 print made for about 50 cents, or an 8x10 enlargement made for about $5.
The 8x10 will put you into a ball-park life size for small/medium whitetail ears, that will make for easier interpretation when you shape butts. The ear pictured is that of a mature buck, so the muscle mass of the butt is greater than that of a 2 1/2 or yearling buck. You might want to keep that in mind as you sculpt.

Glen

That is not what I have been saying, but this is a public forum. The
web site was up-dated and launched this last week-end. Indications are
links have been severed some where.
If you have been unable to access the web site, use the taxidermy suppliers chemicals, molding and casting material link here on taxidermy.net, or go to the TaxidermyReference.com home page and enter
there. You can still get through on Yahoo, Google and Alta Vista.
It appears that there is more than one problem. If anyone has been
getting the Page Unavailable message, please let me know what search
engine.
Thanks,
Glen
Darn, Guys, this has been hard. This computer illiterate inherited the
job of trouble-shooting web site technical problems. I may not know
how to program a computer, but I do know how to ask questions! With a
lot of help, several human errors have been ferreted out regarding the
above web site.
If you tried to come in on Netscape Navigator and were getting a blank
page, you shouldn't have any problem now. That had been caused by a
programming error.
By the end of this next business week, the remaining errors should be
corrected.
If any one else experiences any difficulties, please drop me an e-mail,
I need all the help I can get!
Thanks,
Glen
