Hi,
I live in Ohio but the laws may be the same everywhere on this question.I have a Humming bird that flew into the side of my garage and died.My wife wants me to monut it but i don't know if its legal or not.The last thing i want is any problems with the game wardens.Unless she is tring to get rid of me or somthing. But i want to be totally legal.I have emailed my state DNR but no email ever gets sent back.Any help on this would be great.
Thank You For Your Time
Alan

The hummingbird is a migratory bird and is covered by the Federal Government. Posession is illegal. Sorry.

Get rid of it

I would put it where it came from. It is a protected bird and you could have a problem just for having it.

best of luck

See if there's any nature centers in your area and ask if they want it. I mount a lot of migratory birds for these places. Just mounted a shearwater and a hummingbird for them.

Humming Birds and other protected birds

Yes I guess Humming birds are protected along with a host of many other birds.I always felt that there is no shortage of Robins and Ravens and the list goes on and on,what I'm getting at is 10 dollar permits should be all thats necessary to obtain and mount these protected birds[not all but most]..Lloyd

Just go to your conservation office and they will take it and forward it to a museum.I heard from a curator a long time age that they want all these birds to mount...Lloyd
