I need help! My dad just gave me an airbrush but I have no clue how to use the thing. Does anyone know of a website that can help me learn how to use it or can someone please give me detailed instruction on the basics of how to use it? I have done several deer mounts but can't do the finishing work until I learn how to use it and my boss has been "too busy" to help me. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

I dont know of any websites that teach how to use. Try pasche or whatever your brand of brush is. Craft and hobby stores sometimes teach classes. More importantly though, am I to understand that your "boss" is a taxidermist and wont teach you how to finish a deer? I hope not. Anyway, good luck to you.
I have never watched any deer finishing videos but they may have some good info on the use of airbrushes. Also try looking at the Breakthrough deer manual. You can order these type of items through WASCO and many other suppliers. Might be a smart investment if your serious about taxidermy.
Lisa,
Go to bearair.com and you'll find that they have videos on airbrushing.
That is exactly the problem...I have been assisting at a taxidermy shop doing fleshing and such for 2 years and this year was the first time I have actually mounted deer. Well, my boss has a second job building houses and has never found the time to show me how to do the finishing work so the 4 deer I have mounted have been sitting in his shop since February waiting to be painted. It's rather annoying. I'm about to go ask around to other local taxidermist shops to see if someone else needs any help.
The no.1 nozzle would work great for spraying dyes that is the paasche airbrush system.I use the no.5 nozzle for spraying water based paints. It is possible to do a great job by hand stenciling. You basically put the paint on in very small amounts it is kinda like putting paint on your brush and bleeding it out or painting it on something else till you have very little on your brush. This way you get small amounts on at a time.I believe the airbrush is best keeped for those who have a great deal of work to do and must speed things up a bit...Lloyd
