Incision question

Submitted by Shon on 5/19/02. ( s_morg@hotmail.com ) 205.188.209.168

All of the squirrelsI attempted to mount I used a case incision, like I saw in a video I have. But it didnt work for anyh of th mannakins that I wanted to use it for. What type of incision would be used for a climbing squirrel? and a squrrel eating a nut?
Any help would be apprecited!
Thanks.

Shon, you seem to be assuming that the mannikin is left intact. I'll cut a mannikin in a heartbeat if it'll save me sewing and risking the stitches looking like crap. On a climber, cut the front legs off in wedges. Install them and then push the mannikin into the form. I just take 3 inch japan pins and pin the wedges back into place through the skin. Once the skin dries, it won't move anyway.

took me 5 screw-ups to find this secret

Shon, I wish I found this out early, but the video I watch never showed cutting on the manikin either. But now I'll try to put the skin over the manikin and then cut were ever needed. Then As I do the mounting, a little hot glue on the cut and presto, as good as new. Also George is right on, if you cut, make it a wedge, then it's easier to put it back together and it stays put better, good luck and have a cutting try on the next squirrel.

Use dorsal incision

If you cut the squirrel along back it will work easier and better with most forms esp. the wrapped bodies you make from excellsor...Lloyd
