What would you recommend for a beginner mounting a deer head, a dry preservative or aself tan kit ike lutan-f? Which would last longer and give more detail?
Thanks.

Dry Preservative is best for birds and small mammels,(squirrels, rabbits, etc,) I'd would suggest you try using liqua tan with pre tan #110 method. Tanning the hide you won't get as much shrink to the hide as you would with dry presv.

Tan it, I would not think twice about it.

Tanning is the only way to go. It is not much more work than the dp and the end result is far superior. (my opinion of course)

If you are a beginner I believe you should learn to tan. Tanning is a basic and essential skill all taxidermists should know. It's not that much more work and you will be pleased with your results. You will save yourself some money as well. Tanneries are not cheap.

Tanning is great but, why limit your options so, don't leave out DP
