turkey fan

i have a turkey fan.where all the feathers atach and come together i trimed all but just enough to keep them together.and salted it.is there any thing i do to preserve it or is it to fat and will i have to sepparate the feathers and clean them seperatly and reassemble?any help would be appreciated.

remove the fat from between the quills with a wire wheel(such as on a benchgrinder). put a smear of paste wax on a piece of cardboard where the feather quills that contained the fat will be lying once the fan is spread out.(this will keep the bondo from sticking to the cardboard) then spread the fan out like you want it on the cardboard and pin or tape in place. bondo the ares where the fat was removed,a small circle--be sure to press in between the quills. let dry , turn over and bondo other side. clean the fat from the feather union really well before using bondo ,
