A new taxidermy shop and was wondering if I need records of the waterfowl mounts I did in school? We had records there but were not sent home with us, this was three years ago. Can anyone help me?

Or were they given to you? If the answer is yes to both, you don't need any records since they are your personal mounts. Records are kept on your customers mounts and all the applicable paperwork has to be in line for them only. If you don't HAVE a federal license, don't accept any birds until you get one. If you already have one, they include several booklets of regulations. Read them. Its very boring bureaucatic reading, but you read every word of it and commit them to memory. If you're educated to what they say and conform to what they say, there's no way you'll have any problems.
They were given to us from the school, and I mounted them there. I do have a federal license, but have lost the paper work in moving. I'll have to send for some more. I also still have some in my freezer that have to be mounted yet. How would I prove that these are not customers? Thankyou so much for answering my question.
I usually put a tag on my personal birds even though it's not required by the CFR series. This way some overzealous bureaucrat won't have any reason to get excited. Now please remember, you ARE bound by your own state regulations as to "possession" limits. They may be your birds and you may be saving them to mount, but by the strictest interpretation, they count toward your Possession limit.
George, I will put tags on right away. Don't have that many to go over the limit. Thankyou, Sherry
