I have brought back from Africa an Impala skull (roughly cleaned and dried). I'm used to dear mounting but wonder how to removed horns from cores without damage?

William, rather than try and duplicate the answers, go to the search on your left here, type in "removing antelope horns" and there you be!
sometime for impala the curve of the horns make imposible remove them.
I just saw "antelope".....I don't know if the impala horns WILL come off. Will they?
William, Impala horns, for the most part, are impossible to remove. There's not much you can do other than boiling and drying. If the skull wasn't boiled, I would recomend boiling it untill the horn move somewhat on the cores. After cooling clean the tissue from arould the bases. Then, after the skulls dry you can fill the void with any 2 part epoxie compound (for a skull mount) or with bondo.
