Hi Mark:
It sounds like you will be using artificial antlers and I have never
used them. I use real antlers (small racks) and cut them off the skull.
After that I drill a hole from the bottom side up into the antler so I can
put in a wooden dowel. I put a point on the other end of the wooden so
I can push it into the manikin. But before that I use pinning needles
to line up the placement of the antlers. One you have put in the antlers
with the sharpened dowel, I then pull them back out and put good old elmers
glue in the hole then replace the antlers. The glue is not the best but
it does make for a nice socket.
Thanks ,Bob, wants clear 2 things: antler cut off from skull, how exactly? cut it separatly? next one is: should I mount the head first,
(pre-drill the hole underneath the skin?) both need more informations. Thanks again. mark

Ok Mark I cut each antler from the skull right flush under the base
of the antlers so they look like sheds. Yes I mount the rabbit first.
then I use pinning needles to mark where the antlers are to go. once
the pinning needles are in you can use a magic marker to mark the spot
you are going to push the dowels in. I found by pre drilling that the
antlers loosen up on me. I'm sure others have varying and better methods
but that's the way I've done them for the last 20+ years.
P.S. Just pay close attention to the angle that you put the antlers on.
After you do a few you'll get the hang of it.
Good Luck.
Bob
