freezer burned bobcat

I have a bobcat with some freezer burn on feet,ears, and nose. It has not yet been skinned. I was wondering if I could soak these areas in cold water before skinning or if I should get some ultra-soft? I have only mounted 2 deer heads and 3 squirrels so Im new to this. I read some about freezer burn in the archives but I was not sure if I could do anything before skinning the bobcat to help the feet skin out easier. Thank you in advance.
