I got some tanned moose hide with fur that I tried to wash with soap and borax (it smelled pretty bad) and I tried drying it in a stack of newspapers but it was really thick haired and skinned and took over a week to dry with changing papers everyday. Now there is mold on the skin and a little of the hair and it is starting to smell funny.
I cut it into smaller pieces but now what is the best way to get the mold off. I guess I should rewash it and since they are smaller pieces they should dry quicker. Are there any good household products that can prevent the mold from growing and do a good job of removing it but not mess up the hair? I have to dry them in newspapers because I don't want the skin to curl up when it dries.
Thanks,
JP
