i wanna learn young

i am 14 and wish to learn taxidermy, i and thinking about some courses out of WASCO's catalog, anyone got anytips that the course wont cover?

Basics and thats where you start.

Get the Sportmans course, it should let you see if thats what you really want to do. Next to advance yourself, the TAXIDERMY MANUALS. Each one has great information, I keep mine for reference. Sometimes I just sit down and read one of them to see what I may have missed.

Then of course the videos, viseos have put a lot of people into the taxidermy business. Next seek out your state Assocation, look at what you can learn there demonstrations where you can see what is going on and ask about problems. Shop talk with others. pretty hard to beat.

ask your parents if they will subscribe you to Breakthrough Magazine. this mag will really open your eyes to the spectrum of taxidermy. the competition mounts will inspire you to"be all you can be" ! good luck.

i was in your shoes at one time

when i was 14 years old i read the WASCO booklets. i learned so much. the following year i mounted my first whitetail. i'm 24 years old now and i'm still loving the art of taxidermy. in the next couple of years i plan to start a business. good luck Tim J.

Thats very helpful, after ten year, you still love it, i hope i am the same way, but now i am having doubts, i am in the process of moving in with my dad, (parents devorced when i was 8 months) and out there its just zoom, zoom, zoom, always doing something, but i think i could find the time, in the morning, and in the evening. well if ya love it after ten years, its gotta be darn good fun 8~>
