Bird mount getting oily after being mounted, pheasant is there a way to degrease feathers after it is mounted. New to taxidermy one of my first mounts. Your help greatly appreciated.

Clean with lacquer thinner

Did not clean it well enough did you, degrease use sopa and rinse the soap, rinsing is just as imporant as the mounting maybe even more so. I rinse until the water is clear, I may even wash it 2-3 times until I am sure of a clean skin.

Now just wash with lacquer thinner and low dry all you can do.

....You must take time to clean your bird skin.A pheasant can't be worse then a duck skin to clean.Put some borax on your skin and clean has you go?...Lloyd
