What is the best way to thaw a animal say a deerhead or a bobcat.I have just laid them on a table in the shop but the ears and feet thaw way before the body or head.I have a old refrig and thought about thawing in it.How long should it take to thaw these out in the refrig or is this the best way. thanks

....Just leave it out over night or a couple nights?....You'll have to get at it right away then....Lloyd

There are few cut and tried plans that work for all of us. I have A/C in the studio so I lay my critters out overnite and they do fine. Now try that today without A/C and you will have slip spots.

Our temp is hovering at 105 f today, in the shade its 95. How quick will the meat you cook spoil? Treat your capes and hides the same as you would edible meat and you will not have any problems.

Now who says a bobcat must be totally thawed before you start skinning? I always start skinning with the body frozen, head and feet thawed get after it!

Try this i take my animals and put them in a sink or a container of some sort and put only cold water in the tub and add a little concentrated lysol in the water and put animal in and let it sit over night and it should thaw out good and the lysol will kill most of any of the bacteria that cause slippage and such.. good luck
