Different regions hold different avererage prices.
Call your local shops, and be competetive in the
begining.

Fish polictes made easy

As a young hotshot stuffer 20 yrs ago, I cut my teeth on fish and got pretty good. Won nationals a couple of times, PA states and refionals a bunch of times, but fish became a trap because they are very time and labor intensive if you are doing quality work. As a result, it can be tough to make money on fish. It is far easier to make money on gameheads. About 5 years ago I established the following formula relating to fishwork:
1. Establish a reputation for quality fishwork. Win some competitions, attend seminars, get your hands on anything related to doing quality work
2. Establish the average price per inch locally (within 50 miles). Add 25% to the average, round off to the nearest $.50 and that's your price per inch for warmwater fish.
3. Add 2$ per inch for coldwater fish(I get $15-warm, $17-cold)
4.Establish a minimum size you will accept (I take nothing less than 20" for warm, 17" for cold. I did this when a guy brought in a bucket of 6-7" native browns, like an idiot I took them)
5. Establish a minimum price. I won't touch a fish for less than $300
6. Establish a minimum price for northerns and muskies over 40". I get $600 minimum.
As a result, I now get way less fish and I much happier. I'm making money on the fish I do get and have more time to spend on gameheads which is eaasier money.
