I finally got my first squirrel and ordered the supplies to mount him. The manikin has no feet, so I have 2 questions. First, do I skin to the ankle, cut the bone and stop? If so, what do I use to stabilize the natural foot to the manikin? Will I need to treat the foot to preserve it? The video referance shows to skin out to the toes. Next question, I want to place my mount on a natural piece of limestone. I had planned to drill holes, insert the foot wires and secure the mount. With no foot wires, how can I do this?
Thanks for your help.

Skin all the way down to the toes, if the hide is not tanned then put some D.P. on it and fill the feet in with clay.On the rock Dont know how you are mounting but you might try drilling a hole in the middle of the rock and run a screw in the middle of the form.

Hi Leslie, Skin down to the toes as Jon has suggested. You can keep the feet inside as long as you clean off as much meat as possible and add a preservative. You run wires into the form whereever needed for support, usually though the legs and feet and come out by the foot pads with the wire. Then just drill some holes into the limestone and secure. Hope this helps.
