I'm thinking about going to C.I.T.T, Can anyone give me information on that school that has been there. Is 10-1/2 weeks long enough to learn what it will take to start doing taxidermy on your own when you get out? Is two deer heads enough? or is it once you do one the rest are the same? so now you have done two deer heads, can you now do elk, or moose? You do six fish in this school, can i now mount any fish when i get out ?I guess you no what i mean.

Schools are a place to learn some of the basics to get you started but you are not going to learn enough there to immediatly be at a professional level. The very basics are pretty much the same mammel to mammel but there are differences. And no not all fish are the same, but the basics are...sort of. The biggest things you NEED are a desire to learn and some amount of artistic ability.
sure can't spell(or is it type) today.mammal it is.
Bill, Why don't you buy some video's and/or books? Why spend the money on school, you may not like the trade? I suggest doing some work at home first then decide what's best for you.
I went to CITT and they will teach you what you need to run a successful taxidermy shop. Jerry and Brain know their stuff and will get you going. I was pleased with what they taught me
To begin with unless you are wealthy and just need to spend the money a school will charge. Start slow as most mention, then you can get a few individual workshops under your belt and you will find no need for the school as after the better workshops your work will be better. I feel most of the schools are like Karate class, yo know enough to be dangerous to yourself! Six fish is not enough under classroom conditions.
Think about this Peidmont trechs course was a full school year! Think this is simple work to do? Its not near as easy as it seems.
