Is it possible to wire a birds wings after belly incision is sewen up ?
Return to Beginners Category Menu
You can insert the wire after sewing the incision, but how difficult that would be is dependent on the position desired. Why not just cut the stitches and start over? If it is too late for that, chances are the skin won't have the flex to allow insertion of wires. We call those mistakes, "OOP's" or "SHUCKS" or "DARN's".....(Some call those &^*$&^$%&*%^&*%$#^%$#$%^&%'s too.)
You can perhaps insert a sharpened wire from the "thumb" down through the wing, wire tie it to the humerous and stick it into the body, but it wouldn't have solid anchoring. If it is a closed wing bird, you may get away with just pinning the wings into position.........If the skin is still fresh, just start over.
It would have to be a semi flight position ?
The way I see it the wing wire if done that way would have to be perfectly straight otherwise you would create a swivel on it,and the wing would not hold it's position....and the wing position would be limited to a semi position..any ways I've never tried it myself It is just a thought
