i am making a sculpture (not a mount) out of a hyena form and jawset.
I want to get as much detail into it as i can, including inside the mouth and throat, is there some kind of putty, bondo or clay that is easy to mold with the hands but dries hard like plastic and is durable and easy to paint?
any help wanted.

Bondo is a poor sculpting medium. I would suggest using Magic-Sculpt from Douglas and Sturgess for the purpose. It is moldable, toolable and can be milled and sanded at will. Another fine material for the job that is a darn sight easier to mix in quantity is the thixo seam and repair putty from Epo-Grip. Use the quick putty for buildup and the slow material for detailing the fur and other nuances. There are a number of other products available, but most either shrink or have too fast a cure time for the purpose.
I have used both materials over foam with good results.
