Books for beginers

I was just wondering if anyone knew of any good instructional books for tanning. I am not interested in mounting anything. I want to tan sections of hides (elk, moose, seal) so that I can add fur accents to some of the traditional bowhunting equipement I use. Also, does anyone know of any good books or websites about the field care of hides that will eventually be tanned (every now and then I save up enough pennies to go on a 21 day fly in hunt so a hide might have to sit around camp before it gets tanned).

Thanks

I just borrowed this book from a friend, and I have hardly put it down since I started reading it. It is the book by James Churchill, The complete book of Tanning skins and furs. It is not a new publication, but the principles and technics he tells you about, work. He tells you every way known to man how to tan a hide, old ways along with newer ways. He will also save you alot on chemicals and products needed to tan, alot of the special products sold under special names are common products you can buy at the grocery store at a lot better price. I highly recommend seeing what the previous respondant will sell his copy for. The book lists for $18.95 on the inside jacket. Good luck
