Quick setting glue that doesn't leave "white stuff"?

Submitted by Amy Ritchie on 08/15/2002. ( Amy@AmysTaxidermy.com ) 24.136.154.164

I used to use regular super glue to glue around lip lines of small mammals, etc. etc., but I didn't like it because it would leave a chalky white residue after it dried, and I couldn't get it off. Then I heard someone say that "Zap a gap" didn't leave the residue, so I bought some.. it's not so, though. It leaves just as much, if not more, chalky stuff as super glue did.

Is there any type of quick setting glue out there that dries clear?

Thanks!
Amy

Epo-Grip

They carry a 90 second epoxy that was intended for just such work without the chalky look. A little tricky to work with as you have to mix single drops at a time and mix with a toothpick, but it beats superglues. And "yes" it does dry clear.

Amy, like George said, the Epo-Grip stuff is great. You can get it in either 30 second or 90 second set times. You gotta be quickthough, but it is terrific!

I use the five minute,2-part epoxy from Home Depot on my small mammals, around the lips and eyelids.2.95 per tube.It dries clear also. The only drawback is it almost"liquifies"the eyelid skin,so dont overdo it,a little goes a long way.Throw those cyanoacrylate type glues in the trashcan.
