Hi Jimmy,
I use a half and half mixture of Hydrogen peroxide {regular store bought}and water, it has worked great for me and it hasn't hurt the feathers.

Forgot to say do not soak the whole skin in it, just put some on the affected feathers, run your fingers down the feathers and then rinse off with plain water.

wash the whole bird

Ok, I'll say it again -pay attention.Since you have to wash the bird anyway(and I hope you do)Go to WASCO and order some Epo-Grip bloodout/degreaser. A little goes a looooonngg way so you can order a small quantity if you don't do many birds . I have been using it for about 3 yrs now and I first tried it on a woodduck. Besides teal they have the thinnest skin for the size of the bird.In 15 minutes your white feathers are as white as white gets while you degrease as well. If you still have white spots and must spot treat get some Whink in the grocery store or wherever you'd find stain removers(brown bottle with white writing)

Oxiclean

Go to walmart and buy it! It does an awsome job at removing blood! I used it on a "red" bufflehead and 3 winter ptarmigan. All blood is gone. The red buffle head is now white as can be by the way. I lathered the birds up with dawn and then sprinkled some of the powder directly onto the birds. I then softly rubbed the birds with my fingers to work the powder into the stained areas. Then let them sit for 10-20 minutes. Rinsed them well and repeated if it was nessicary. Those birds are all beautiful! I have a pic of the ptargigan on kiwi's chat.
Later.
