Salting is best

Aric,

You should call the tannery and ask them which way they want them dried. If they aren't very helpful you may want to look for a new tannery. Once the hides are fleshed, salt them down good. Let that salt set on the hide for 12-24hrs and then shake the loose salt off and resalt the hide. If the hide has a lot of moisture in it, place it on an inclined surface to drain the fluid away. You can simply air dry the hides as well, but doing so can lead to slippage problems.

Email me if I can be of further assistance.

hides should be completely dry

Sorry should have said that after the second day of salting, remove the hide and hang to finish drying in the air. Hides should be completely dry before shipping regardless of which method you choose.
