If it's wet tanned ... why does it need to be rehydrated? Most wet tans are frozen after finished. Then all that is needed is a overnight thaw and sweat in the fridge! Is that specific enough?

Wet tan

I have seen some wet tans a bit on the dry side. Yes I do spray a bit of warm water, with some salt ( to prevent acid swell) and a cup full of downy. This does help out nicely. Plus if you using Epo-Grips water base hide paste or Buckeye Supreme that will also let the hide out.

Frank, Change tanneries

You keep mentioning salt and acid swell. I've never had the displeasure of either cleaning salt residue off my tanned hide or the hide swelling when I've used reputable tanneries.
