can i use a bench grinder with a wire wheel to shave face on deer?

This has been mentioned before whith many points of view! If you are just starting do what I did, use a rough grinding wheel just dont press hard and make a back and forth motion. move the guard out of the way so it wont grab the skin. don't hold the skin in one place cause it will heat up. many will not agree but if you are just starting and don't know that this is anything you will stick with, I think it would'nt be smart to up and buy a fleshing machine! Thats just my opinion. Check the search button and type in fleashing machines, this very question was covered around Dec. or Jan. at the beginning of the year. Hope this helps! Tony


Dremel tool with barrel sander

Give that a try, you can put your fingers on one side of the hide, and the dremel sander on the other and feel how thin the hide is as you thin it. It is recommended by Bill Yox.
