Do I have a dermestid invasion?

Hi all,

I have these tiny beetles all over the place. They are long and thin and resemble teeny, tiny pine borer type beetles. Maybe 1/16" long x 1/32" wide tops. Both sexes appear similar. They can fly. They are uniform deep brown in color. I can happily catch a few, preserve in alcohol in a vial or something, and snail-mail to the local extension for ID, or I could snap some pictures and send to a coleoptera fan for ID if you wish. They are unintelligent and regularly don't move out of the way, thus I kill every one I see. They seem to enjoy eating birdseed, living under the carpet, between pieces of paper and other seldom-moved flat surfaces, and crawling on furs. They occasionally land on me thus ensuring their deaths. Are these dermestids? I have not noticed an increase in damage to my furs but I have found a few "tangles". We do have the real deal (carpet beetles which DO eat furs) here too so I just want to make sure these little, tiny brown guys are harmless. I don't mind them cleaning up birdseed powder (I have four birds) :)

Thanks for any help!
