airbrush trouble

Submitted by Scott B on 09/03/2002. ( ) 209.234.180.20

I have a problem with my vl double action airbrush. For some reason I can't get any paint to come out. I am using hydromist paints. should I thin the paint with something. I tried thinning it with water but it didn't help. I also had trouble sparying paint thinner. Could a bent needle tip cause this.

Thanks,

Scott

Have you tried putting any other paint through--see if that works first- But the Hydro if shaken well should go through-- It could be a number of things, first make certain air is going thorugh correctly, then try a thinned liquid--Water works good as a tester. OYu may have not cleaned well enough before, if all is going well you probaby don't have your brush adjusted right--try that next. If all fails send it into WASCO as they offer a cleaning service/repair. Good luck

Air Brush cleaning and inspection

Scott,
First off I would clean your airbrush and inspect your needle. Soak your nozzle and tip etc. in dish of lacquer thinner. Then closely inspect the tip of the needle. If it is bent, carefully roll the tip against an emery board and see if the burr sands off.
Then I would re-assemble your air brush and spray a little WD-40 on the needle, so it slides smoothly in the brush. If using water base acrylic you can try thinning with alcohol. Other mediums can be used such as windex, water etc. Your paint should be the viscosity of skim milk.
