Color of a Bobcats Nose

Submitted by Albert on 09/07/2002. ( kjl7857@webtv.net ) 209.240.198.62

Tried to get the proper color back on the bobcats nose but when I mix the paints they never seem right. They turn out to light, to dark, to red, to pink. Every shade but what it should be. Thanks for your input.

Hi Albert,
Sorry I can answer your specific question but I may be able to offer some help. Get yourself a "color wheel" (about 10 bucks at most craft stores). When I got mine it opened my eyes to a whole new world.
Good luck my friend,
Bill K

Albert, It's real easy. First paint the nose orange- a mallard orange or similar is good. Allow to dry completly. Next take a dark brown and make a wash out of a drop of paint and water- needs to be very thin. With your brush put on a coat at a time until it looks like you want. Cats have a fairly wide range of nose color and this method is good for getting the one you want. Enjoy, Aaron H.

Albert,
I use a mixture of white and burnt sienna. Tint it to your color preference/reference. This is as good as any results I've had with other methods.
