after reading the archives,i still have a question regarding drumming of the ears.you have to rehydrate before you can inject or cut. what is the best way to rehydrate just one area(ears).also in the WASCO catalog on pg 133 is the injectable the stuff to use or the liquid fast set.just finished my third deer head, turned out nice except for the ears. they do have a liner in them. thanks for any help.i just want to make sure i order the right stuff

skin out your head as you normally would but leave the cartlige
in place make sure you skin the ear out all the way to the edge
and clean ear with solvent then fill ear with bondo and chopped
fiberglass make the ball about the size of a golf ball work it
out to the edges work fast but follow the cartlige contours
when dry you`ll never have drumming again
good luck

Your posting is tough to read with no capitals, but I THINK you are asking about earliners. Use 3/4 ounce of Liquid Fast Set per ear. To rehydrate a single ear (and I'm lost as to why single ears are in this conversation), pour warm water into the ear pocket and let it set for a few minutes. Squeeze it out and then put the ear in a zip-lock bag overnight. Dry the ear interior and dump the 3/4 ounce LFS into the pocket. Squeeze it around until the glue contacts all the surfaces and then slide your earliner in. You have about 5 minutes to get all your anatomical markers in line so I'd suggest you pre-fit the liner before you begin. And CAN the Bondo. It's not an adhesive. It's a body filler, nothing more. LFS with keep your ears from drumming forever as long as you insure all the skin is in contact with the epoxy.

sorry, i'll clarify

the hide is mounted already with earliners in. it has dried about a week and noticed that i'm getting some drumming in the ears. i rehydrate then put inject an adhesive into the area which is drummed. then card or clothes pin to hold? rehydrate by dampening the ear and bagging it over night? thanks

You got it. But don't use Liquid Fast Set. Use the Injectable grade.
