Elmer's Glue

Gives a soft lustre as well as fills minute cracks and crevices with a semi-flexible filler.

Glue

Yup,a good old white Elmers glue bath. Once it's dry, you can buff it with a soft rag and it give's it a nice sheen. And like George said, it fills in the cracks and makes the skull very strong. You'll see how strong it is when you do a fragile skull like a pronghorn.

mix with water or not

Do I need mix water or Elmer glue only? Thanks. BB

Just glue

No, you don't need water just use straight Elmers. I buy it by the gallon and store it in a rubbermaid tub with a tight lid.

Use polymer medium

The polymer varnishes are available in matte, semi-gloss and gloss finishes. They are better than Elmer's glue because the are impervious to water after drying. Elmer's remains water soluable and may be removed by accidental spill or washing.

One cheap commercial product is the Jo Sonja Water-based polyurethane varnish........Available at expensive Hobby Shops everywhere......or Dick Blick's on the web...www.dickblick.com

Douglas and Sturgess sells fine Acrylic polymer coatings....www.artstuf.com

Industrial polymers sells a two component UVR clear coating called CrystalCast that will entomb the skull forever in a quality, non-yellowing finish.......www.industrialpolymers.com
