Put the bird in a cage, box, or whatever you can find that can fit in a garbage bag. wrap the opening of the garbage bag around the exhaust of a vehicle. Start the engine for a few seconds (15 is plenty) remove the opening of the bag from the exhaust pipe, tie it up and leave the area for a 10 minutes. When you return, the bird will have expired painlessly.
to do this outside!
The very BEST way I've ever heard sounded so remote and macabre that I almost ignored it. Since it came from Stefan Savides, however, I was a little smarter than I look and tried it. Go to the archives and look up his method of electrocuting them with regular house current. It's the quickest, and best way to kill them within seconds without thrashing or panicking. Best of all, IT WORKS IMMEDIATELY.

I read on here somewhere a method that had something to do with dry ice. I dont remember what it was but I will look in the archives (they're right, there IS info there!) and post my findings. I have tried the squeeze method, but I guess didn't do it right, took too long, for me at least. You also can inject water or alcohol or plain old air into the back of their skull. I wouldn't reccomend it but someone told me to stuff their mouth full of Skoal tobacco!LOL! Anyway, I better get to archivin so I'll be back soon.Have a great day

Sorry, I couldn't find it. I know it's out there though. If you will look a little harder than I did. I rememver reading it. I would advise the exhaust method myself. It is easy and safe (for you). Good luck and happy killing. Have a good day

I use it on goldens and amgolds and reeves. other birds too!
Get a garbage can with a lid, 2 concrete blocks that will fit in the garbage can and still have room for the coffee can. hardware screen and a coffe can and a chunk of dry ice.
Place the 2 bricks in the bottom of the garbage can along with the
coffee can, rest the hardware cloth wire on top of these. now the your ready.
have your birds in the area ready to grab.
Place the dry ice in the coffee can replace the screen . Becareful it will burn you and peel the skin off your fingerrs and is VERY PAINFUL!
wear gloves them yellow ones from the hardware store will do.
Add some water to the dry ice in the caffee can and it will start to smoke. place the lid on the garbagew can and get a bird be easy with them while placing them in the garbage can ontop of the screen and close the lid. after a minute or less you will hear a last death sqwauck (sp) lift the lid and replace it for the next bird. and repeat.
The screen keeps the bird from getting wet and the water and dry ice together emits Co2 quick and painless. the only mess you'll have is if you slice a vein when skinning. or leave your head in the garbage can too long .
Don't go overboard on the killing or on the dry ice .
a small fist size chunck of dry ice will do about 4-8 birds 8 if your ready for the process. start small 2 -3 birds then skin them while there still warm it's much easier, I lay the skins flat on a newspaper couple 3 sheets then stack them up as I go.
becarefull scraping the fat too, as you might know pheasants have very tender hides.
Hope that helps , it's the most humane way I have ever used and have been doing it this way for around 20 years
If you like the taste of car exhast and oil in your meat then you could probably eat the three eyed fish around three mile island.
The dry Ice method I prefer allows you to eat the birds with no aftertaste . don't waste them after you took the time to raise prime specimens, that would be a careless waste of a gamebird.
Thanks for all of you that replied top my message. i really appreciate it.

how many of them goldens and amgolds and reeves have you eaten?
Every one that someone else didn't eat first .
