What is the easiest (if there is one!) way to remove bison horn caps in preparation for a shoulder mount?

Put the skull and horns in a big double plastic bag and set it in an outside shed for a few weeks. Then go out and pop 'em off.

Jeff,I have a clean ,fast methood for you!Cut off the horn(cap and core )as close to the skull as possible, then microwave each individual horn for about 3-4 minuts, depending on the wattage of your microwave.after the horn cools, drill a hole through the core and insert a wire (10 gauge or better)through the core and twist the wire closed in a loop large enough to insert foot, insert foot in the wire loop, then pull up and twist a little(pull on the cap)If it will not come off with a couple of firm tugs, take the wire back out a nuk it a little longer and try again.after microwaving the horns you should first take a knife and cut along the base of the thick meat that is between the base of the cap and the core ,this will make the above procedure even easier. If done properly, you should be able to free both caps in about 15 minuts, have fun and pull hard!dont throw your back out
