How do I preserve a 60yr old mounted goat head. how do I care for it to insure it lasts and last? The hair looks a little dirty? Any chemical solutions? Thanks, Merle

preserving a mount is a tricky business at best. Especially since you don't know how it was tanned. By you telling us that is it 60 years old it probably was tanned with arsenic which is highly poinonous. Now to just clean the hair there are some products on the market you can order through the taxidermy supplier like mount shield. I think your best bet would be to get in touch with a trophycare place that specializes in that type of work. Miller's trophy room would be one of them. Unfortunately I do not have their phone number. Maybe you can find them through googles search. You can also go on the McKenzie site and look under trophy care products. Sorry I couldn't help you any more than that.
