and you don't even know how to clean a mount?
I was told to put vasoline on the nose of deer every year to keep it looking good and from cracking. I am just getting started with taxidermy and if this is the help that it get(jerk) No Thanks I don't need yours.
that you can buy to clean your mounts. Some of the suppliers sell them, and even have smaller bottles that you can sell to your customers for a little extra $. I myself simply use a soft cloth (old towel) to wipe my deer down. If the mount is in good shape and the hair is very tight ( as it should be ) Take a vacuum cleaner with the brush attachment and LIGHTLY groom it. I DO use a small spray of Pledge to wipe the antlers down, but its a very small amount. Clean the eyes with a cotton swab dipped in Windex. I have a mount that I did 12 years ago, that looks as good as it did when it was first finished. One of the biggest mistakes that people make is hanging the deer over the fireplace or somewhere in the vicinity of the kitchen where it will be a magnet for nasties. Common sense as to where to display the trophy will help it last longer than anything else.
if you're just starting out?
